Jane Robelot

Anchor

Jane Robelot, nationally acclaimed network news anchor and correspondent, joined WYFF News 4 in January 2007 as a contributing reporter and anchor of the news magazine Chronicle. In 2017 she was named full-time co-anchor of WYFF News 4 at 4. Jane is also the anchor of “Chronicle”, a quarterly prime time news magazine.

After beginning her career in radio in 1982, Jane moved into television with WSPA before being spotted by CBS News Network. In 1990 she moved on to WCAU-TV in Philadelphia to anchor and report for the CBS News-owned station. In 1995 she was tapped by the network to move to CBS News in New York City, where she worked as a national anchor beginning on “CBS Morning News” and was quickly promoted to co-host “CBS This Morning”.

While at CBS News, Jane covered some of the most important events of that time, including The Oklahoma City Bombing, The Death of Princess Diana, Pope John Paul II’s historic visit to Cuba and the Olympic Winter Games in Nagano, Japan.

Jane’s next move was back South to WGCL-TV in Atlanta where she anchored the 5, 6 and 11pm newscasts. Then, in 2006, Jane and her husband returned to her hometown of Greenville to launch Carolina Zoom Productions, a video production company and studio.

Jane has received many awards and recognitions for her exemplary work in broadcasting. While at CBS News in New York, Jane won two National Emmy Awards for journalistic excellence, and a National Emmy nomination. And in 2009 she won the prestigious Peabody Award, as part of the WYFF News 4 team that produced the special, Chronicle: Paul’s Gift. In 2024, she and her WYFF News 4 team won the S.E. Regional Emmy Award for “Best Newscast.”

Jane graduated Clemson University with a B.A. in Economics and is an avid Tiger fan. She is a very active alumnus, having served on the President’s Advisory Board, and a founding member of Board for the Center for the Visual Arts.

She has also enjoyed a variety of special projects including co-hosting the Florida Citrus Sports parade in Orlando, and moderating a panel discussion for the World Bank at their Washington, DC headquarters. She is a Riley Fellow, a member of the Greenville Professional Women’s Forum and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Jane has been recognized for her professional work and her community involvement by the Greenville Chamber of Commerce with the “ATHENA Leadership Award”, the Clemson University Alumni Association’s “Distinguished Service Award” and Clemson University’s Spiro Institute’s “Entrepreneur of the Year Award”. She was in the first class inducted into the Greenville County Schools “Hall of Fame”, and the “Women Making History” Award presented by the Greenville Cultural Exchange Center. In 2024, Jane was honored with the prestigious “Master’s Award” by the S.C. Broadcaster’s Association and inducted into the 2024 South Carolina Entertainment and Music Hall of Fame.

Jane is married to Mario De Carvalho, a former combat cameraman with CBS News...they have one son, George.
