3 vehicles crash into Wilkins Township home
It's something Arnie Levine says he's seen a lot of recently, especially on the news: cars into homes. But now, it's something that happened to his home.
Runaway cars rolling through Wilkins Township ended up crashing into Levine's house Saturday morning.
According to fire officials, a driver was attempting to load a car onto a trailer being pulled by an SUV. That’s when the whole unit broke free and rolled about one thousand feet before resting into a home. About five to seven cars were also damaged along the way. The Wilkins Township fire chief said the situation could have ended a lot worse.
"This could have been significant. There were several vehicles on the road that actually kept this tow vehicle in the path of the street and diverting it from hitting homes. Once there was a break in the vehicles, that’s where it towed off the road and into the house," said Chief Jason Davis.
Once the trailer came to a rest, one of those cars pushed into Levine's home. He wasn’t home at the time, but says his son alerted him to what happened.
"I got a call from my son, and I was out at the time. The report was that something hit the house. I came over to see what it is. Thank goodness no one was hurt," Levine said.
Doorbell video in the neighborhood shows just how that accident unfolded on Queenson Drive Saturday morning. Fire officials said they were originally dispatched for a vehicle into a structure, but it was much more than that.
Crews "arrived on scene to find three vehicles involved, and the structure was slightly compromised," Davis said.
No one was hurt, and there was no major damage.
