ACTION TO HELP. IT WAS HERE, OUTSIDE THIS BRIDGEVILLE HOME WHERE A FEDEX DELIVERY DRIVER COLLAPSED. A STATE SENATOR LIVES JUST ACROSS THE STREET. HE SAW WHAT WAS HAPPENING OVER HERE AND RAN TO HELP THE COLLAPSE, AND THE RESCUE EFFORTS WERE CAPTURED ON THE DOORBELL CAMERA. OH, ARE YOU OKAY? YOU OKAY? THIS VIDEO WAS CAPTURED THURSDAY AFTERNOON, A DAY WHEN MARK MCCULLOUGH SAYS HE WOULD TYPICALLY BE AT WORK, BUT INSTEAD HE WAS HERE TO ANSWER THE DOOR, THEN GO TO THE FEDEX DRIVER’S SIDE AND CALL FOR HELP ACROSS THE STREET. ANOTHER CAMERA CAPTURED STATE SENATOR DEVLIN ROBINSON. ARRIVING HOME, HE TOO SAYS HE WASN’T SUPPOSED TO BE HERE. BUT PLANS CHANGED AND HE ARRIVED IN TIME TO SPOT WHAT WAS HAPPENING. AND AS YOU CAN SEE, RUN TO HELP. THE MEN SAY THEY DID CHEST COMPRESSIONS AS THE 911 CALL TAKER TOLD THEM TO UNTIL THE FIRST RESPONDERS ARRIVED AND TOOK THE DRIVER TO THE HOSPITAL. SENATOR ROBINSON AND HIS NEIGHBORS SAY THEY HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT HIM SINCE IT WAS A MIRACLE ALL THESE THINGS HAPPENED, AND I HOPE IT’S ALL FOR THE BEST. LIKE, I HOPE THIS GUY DON’T KNOW HIS NAME YET. I DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HIM OTHER THAN HE’S HE’S HAS A FIGHTING CHANCE AND, UH, AND. YEAH, SO IT STARS DID ALIGN. I’M PULLING FOR HIM. UPDATE (June 16): A fundraiser has been set up to raise money for Adonis Whitner, the delivery driver who was helped after collapsing during his route in Bridgeville on Thursday."Adonis is currently conscious but will have a long road to recovery," said Whitner's employer and the GoFundMe organizer, Jennifer Morrison. "He will be unable to work and will incur excessive medical bills. This fundraiser is to assist Adonis and his family with those expenses."Anyone can donate by visiting the GoFundMe page.ORIGINAL STORY: A FedEx delivery driver rang a doorbell in Bridgeville just before 12:30 p.m. Thursday, then collapsed in front of the homeowner.The fall and Mark Macala's response were captured on the home's doorbell camera. Across the street, another doorbell camera captured state Sen. Devlin Robinson arriving at his house. He said he had not planned to stop at home, but his day changed at the last minute, and when he noticed what was happening, he ran to help.Click the video player above to watch the doorbell camera footage"I flopped him over and saw he wasn't breathing, so I gave him a sternum rub, and that seems like what opened up was his airway," Robinson said.Macala said while he was on the phone with 911, the call taker told them to begin chest compressions, which they did until first responders arrived and took the man to the hospital.Macala said he wouldn't typically be home on Thursday afternoon but happened to be working from home and even excused himself from an online meeting to answer the door. "As you start to replay things in your head, it was a miracle all these things happened. And I hope it's all for the best," Macala said.
