Garrett Short joined WSMV as a sports reporter in September of 2023.

Before making his way to Nashville, Garrett worked at WNCT in Greenville, North Carolina. His time in the Tar Heel State was consumed largely by college athletics. Whether it was East Carolina football bowl games or the ACC men’s basketball tournament, he loved the passion for college sports in North Carolina.

Garrett started his career in Rochester, Minnesota. After growing up in a small town in Illinois without high school football, he quickly fell in love with it. The connection and community involved with high school sports is something he has always loved.

Considering he was named “Most Talkative” in his senior class in high school, it’s no surprise Garrett became a reporter. He loves to tell stories and connect with people, especially through sports.

Garrett found his passion for storytelling at Indiana State University, where he graduated in 2019.

As a nature lover, he likes to stay active and absolutely loves to snowboard. In his free time, Garrett likes to travel and cook.

Vanderbilt baseball hosted Asher Sullivan's brother, Declan, at Sunday's game against top-ranked Tennessee. Head Coach Tim Corbin said he hoped it would provide a little relief from an emotional week, and maybe even a little fun.
