NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Metro Nashville Police have identified the teen that was shot with his own gun on Antioch Pike on Saturday night.

Police said Tuesday the victim has been identified as 16-year-old Jawaun Cleo Jones. Jones was apparently shot with his own gun in the 1600 block of Antioch Pike during a fight with three other people.

After reviewing area surveillance cameras, detectives believe Jones was riding a skateboard just after 11 p.m. when he was approached by three people. A fight took place between the victim and the suspects, and the victim dropped a pistol. One of the three others appeared to retrieve the gun and shot the victim.

Police said the victim ran before collapsing in front of a nearby business’ lawn. He died at the scene. The three suspects fled on foot.

Anyone with information on this fatal shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
