Felon arrested with stolen gun after buying attachments for it at Academy Sports, police say
Police said the man was on probation for a previous evading arrest incident in Nashville involving a stolen car and gun.
MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WSMV) - A felon was arrested in possession of a stolen gun after buying attachments for it at a store in Mt. Juliet on Monday evening, according to police.
Mt. Juliet police said an officer spotted a 21-year-old in the parking lot of Academy Sports acting recklessly.
At about 6:50 p.m., the suspect from Nashville bought a laser/light combo attachment for a gun at Academy Sports. Police said the gun was stolen from an unlocked car in Nashville earlier in the year.
The officer in an unmarked car, along with several 911 callers, said they saw the man waving the gun around as he walked through the parking lot. Police said the man was on probation for a previous evading arrest incident in Nashville involving a stolen car and gun.
Officers were able to take him into custody.
“We are grateful for our officers’ dedication to keeping MJ safe,” police said.
