LAFAYETTE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Macon County High School is quiet at this time of year, with students mostly at home for the summer.

But in recent days, students have had to come together to grieve the loss of one of their own.

“It felt like my world fell apart,” rising senior Jaycee Meador said.

Jaycee and Khloe Redfield both say they’re still in shock after learning their friend, 17-year-old Trinity Bostic, was the girl found dead in Hendersonville on July 4.

“It doesn’t feel real at all,” Khloe said. “It’s just very hard.”

When Bostic’s remains were found, police said foul play was suspected. Days later, they announced a 17-year-old from Westmoreland was arrested and charged with first degree murder in connection with Trinity’s death.

“For someone who was so loving and caring, that was undeserved,” Jaycee said.

Trinity was reported missing in Macon County on June 30. At the time, both Jaycee and Klhoe said they’d grown suspicious of where she’d gone.

“It’s very not like her to just go off the grid,” Khloe said.

Jaycee says Trinity’s phone was eventually pinged in Sumner County by law enforcement, and she had hoped it was a positive sign.

“It [text messages] just said couldn’t deliver, couldn’t deliver,” Jaycee said. “I think that’s when I kind of knew something had happened.”

Instead of planning a senior year together, Jaycee, Khloe, and an entire community are grieving the loss of another young Macon County teen.

“I’ve been class president all four years, and every year we’ve had someone pass away,” MCHS senior class president Landon Connor said. “Each year I’ve learned how to deal with it better and how to help the family.”

Landon says in response to her death, he’s set up a GoFundMe to help the family with costs.

They’re also working to see if they can memorialize Trinity for the upcoming school year.

“Every time I was around her, she was so bright,” Jaycee said. “She was the light in my life.”

Trinity’s visitation and funeral arrangements have been announced.

Her visitation is set for Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sellers Funeral Home in Portland. Her funeral follows at the funeral home at 1 p.m. The funeral home is located at 610 N. Broadway St.
