Neighbors are mourning the loss of a Nashville restaurant owner who died Thursday after he was struck in front of his business last month.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The owner of a Nashville business has died weeks after a hit-and-run crash, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

On June 19, 42-year-old Matthew Carney was hit by a pickup truck which left him critically injured. Carney succumbed to his injuries on July 4.

Recently, police said they’ve found and impounded the truck they believe hit and killed Carney. The truck, which had been mostly spray painted, was recovered after an officer spotted in in the parking lot of the LaQuinta Inn on Sidco Drive Saturday morning.

The truck, which was found with temporary tags, has been impounded. At this time, no arrests have been made as MNPD continues to investigate. While hospitalized, police were unable to interview Carney due to his condition.

“Reward money totaling more than $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the driver,” police said.

A GoFundMe was created on June 22 to collect donations for the $10,000 reward, it’s since reached over $45,000. The additional funds will go to help Carney’s wife during this difficult time.
