Nearly 100 pounds of drugs seized in traffic stop in Hopkinsville

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WSMV) - Nearly 100 pounds of illicit drugs were seized during a traffic stop in Hopkinsville on Wednesday evening, according to police.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after the driver allegedly disregarded a stop sign.
After an investigation, the vehicle was searched and officers found 93 pounds of drugs. Police said Vontrae Lewis, the driver, was arrested and charged with traffic and drug violations.

“Last night, our officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for simply disregarding a stop sign. Through investigation, a search of the vehicle was conducted which resulted in a seizure of 93 pounds of illicit drugs. HPD is committed to removing dangerous drugs from our community while also ensuring the public safety on the roadways,” HPD said.
