NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Nashville’s Alex Walsh has joined her sister on the U.S. Olympics Swim team after Saturday’s 200m intermediate medley.

Walsh, who won the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, finished second in the finals on Saturday night. Kate Douglass won the race.

“It’s ready and it’s time. I’m ready to go to Paris,” Alex Walsh said in a TV interview after the race.

Gretchen Walsh won the 100m butterfly to qualify for her first Olympics. She had the top time in Saturday’s semifinals in the 50m freestyle and could qualify for a second event in Sunday’s final.

“It means the world. We both wanted to be Olympians,” Alex Walsh said. ‘I’m just happy we can go together.”
