Driver critically injured on I-75 in Atlanta after crashing into back of semi truck

ATLANTA — A person was critically injured in a crash on Interstate 75 on Monday afternoon.

At 4:30 p.m., Georgia State Patrol Troopers responded to the crash in the northbound lanes of I-75 at Mount Paran Road.

Investigators determined a gray Jeep Wrangler was following too closely to a white semi truck.

Both roadway evidence and statements from witnesses confirmed that traffic came to a stop but the Jeep did not slow down and crashed into the back of the truck.

Investigators said there were no signs of braking.

The driver of the Jeep was extracted from the Wrangler and taken by ambulance to Kennestone Hospital.

The driver is in critical condition.

Most of the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 were shut down for over an hour as crews worked to clear the scene.

As of 5:47 p.m., all lanes had reopened.
