Even though July is just beginning, all eyes already turn to the start of the 2024-25 NHL regular season, which for the Carolina Hurricanes, will begin on October 11. The 'Canes released its regular season schedule in its entirety. That information can be found HERE. Here are a few notes on the run of 82 games and some important dates to circle:

Staying in Raleighwood

The Hurricanes will begin the regular season with a home game: October 11 against the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7 p.m. It's an early matchup against two playoff teams from a season ago that will have a lot of different pieces. One new piece for Tampa Bay is former Hurricanes forward Jake Guentzel, who Carolina traded the rights to prior to the start of free agency for a third round pick. Guentzel signed a seven-year contract with the Lightning for an average annual value of $9 million.

This is the seventh time in the last eight seasons the Hurricanes start the season at home. The 'Canes have won the last four of those games, most recently against the Ottawa Senators in PNC Arena.

Metro mayhem

The Hurricanes will play the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins just three times this season, but will play four games against the rest of the Metropolitan Division.

Road trip!

The Hurricanes have six stretches of road games that last at least three matchups. The longest being the annual State Fair trip, which will go six games (at Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Edmonton, Calgary, Seattle and Vancouver) and last from October 18-28.

Hockey time in Utah

The Hurricanes will play two games against the Utah Hockey Club in its first season. Carolian will travel to Salt Lake City for a road game on Wednesday, November 13 and will host them at PNC Arena on Saturday, February 8.

To be the best, you've got to beat the best

The Hurricanes will play the Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers three times this year: at home on Friday, November 29, at Florida on Saturday, November 30 and then at Floriday on Thursday, January 2.
