Thanks to the BDSM-themed erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey, Lady Gaga's increasingly provocative stage gear and Kim Kardashian donning gravity-defying rubber outfits to go about her daily business, there's been a global shift in attitudes towards kinky sex.
Everyone from A-listers to K-pop stars has been openly harnessing fetish gear to make a statement, and this trend has translated into the bedroom. Yep, bondage kit has gone mainstream, meaning it's no longer considered taboo to experiment with a bit of (consensual) slap and tickle.
So, think you might be interested in trying something a little less conventional? Allow us to introduce you to the sex swing.
It might look like a serious piece of kit that belongs in a dungeon, but suspended sex comes with a number of mind and body benefits... so keep scrolling for the ins and outs of aerial intercourse.

Types of sex swings
Almost ready to swing into action? The last thing you need to decide is which swing is for you, as they usually fit into three categories: door swings, sex slings and sex swings.
While we encourage trying them all to find what you like, beginners might want to start with something that slips simply over the door. These tend to be a little cheaper, easier to use and there's the added support of the door if you're not quite ready to go in full swing.
Over-the-door swings
Mounted over a normal door, these are quick and easy to install. 'They tend to offer a simple strap to support your partner and sometimes come with additional straps for ankles and wrists,' explains Breedon.
'However, because they are mounted on a door, that can restrict the motion and also where the other partner can stand.'
Sex slings
Sex slings tend to come with a frame or require a sturdy ceiling fastening.
'Unlike a full sex swing, they tend to be a slightly more simple design with a sling to support your partners' weight and simple straps to hold their legs and arms too,' says Breedon. 'However, there is definitely more mobility and variety of angles and positions compared to a door swing.'
Sex swings
As they are usually made from leather, swings tend to be more robust, but also more expensive. 'Sex swings offer the widest range of motion and potential positions,' says Breedon. 'Usually, they will require some sort of ceiling suspension point to mount them from.
'However, within each of these groups there is a huge variety of styles, materials and suspension methods, so do your research and think about the space you have to work out which type would best suit you.'
