Eva Longoria's approach to staying healthy is not complex, but lord, is it effective. The actress, who is age 46, concentrates on a handful of key pillars to keep herself nourished, fit, and calm. The good news is, for those of you seeking inspiration, they are all easier to weave into your routine than it is to add a month's paycheque worth of clothes to your & Other Stories online cart.

'I’ve always been someone to eat right, exercise, and take care of my skin,' the mum-of-one told People in 2017. She takes a similarly straightforward approach to her mind, prioritising grounding practices such as meditation and getting enough sleep. '[To me] wellness feels like making sure you don’t get sick, making sure you’re meditating, making sure you’re not stressed out, making sure you’re sleeping,' she told The Cut in 2016.

So far, so accessible. Want to delve into more of the star's s key wellness habits? Scroll on.

She mixes up her workouts

You do not need anyone to tell you that movement, regularly, is one one of the single greatest things you can do for your wellbeing. One key lesson to take from Eva's approach, however?

Keeping things interesting by mixing them up. 'I do a lot. I’m a runner, I do yoga, I do pilates, I do SoulCycle and I’m just constantly mixing it up,' the actress told People in 2017.

She understands the basics

That said, she's keen to stress that staying well isn't overly complicated. 'Everybody thinks there’s some kind of secret to looking good, but it’s not a secret. It’s diet and exercise,' she told the publication.

3

She has her morning routine down

There is no snooze followed by a last minute, coffee-chugging scramble to her desk for Eva.

'I try to wake up and immediately work out. I get up, put on my sunblock and running hat, and I’m off. I like to work out in the morning because the day gets away from me and I will never do it in the afternoon — I get too tired. After I run I eat probably the same thing every morning, which is egg whites with spinach and turkey bacon,' she told The Cut.

She gets her 8 hours in

All that first thing momentum is fuelled by shut-eye. 'I’m a runner, so I usually get up at seven — it depends because I always get eight hours of sleep,' she told the publication.

She works to calm her mind

Even though making the time is tricky, Eva makes sure to meditate or to pray multiple times a week.

'Meditating is hard. It’s not hard to do, but it’s hard finding the time. I try to run and meditate right after as a routine, but sometimes I’m running late so I go, I’ll skip meditating! It’s the first thing that gets cut if I run out of time, but it’s also one of the most important things. If I can do it three, four times a week then I feel successful.

'It’s also a form of prayer. I’m pretty spiritual and religious, so if you pray that’s also a form of meditation. It’s focusing your mind on a higher power. Some people think that meditating is chanting a mantra, but there are so many other things. You can meditate on a problem, you can meditate on love, there are so many different meanings. Sometimes people try to define meditation so strictly that it scares people away from it,' she told The Cut.

She knows that making the most of the time you have, matters

'Everything is about balance. I think people waste more time than they think. They think I don’t have time to meditate, or I don’t have time to work out, and yet they have time to be on Instagram for 30 minutes — like, that could have been their meditation session. You have to prioritise your time and efforts toward wellness,' she told The Cut.

She eats her veg - and keeps them simple

When it comes to eating the rainbow, Eva is on board. 'I could easily be a vegetarian because I love vegetables so much and I feel like L.A. is a place that can support healthy living,' she told InStyle.

'I love cooking with vegetables and I have a secret for cooking with vegetables, [which] is that they don't need a lot. A lot of people cover them in cheese or cover them in a sauce, and vegetables really only need olive oil.'

8

She always wears sunscreen

Every. Single. Day. 'It [applying SPF] was an important lesson because the skin that you take care of in your 20s is the skin you will have in your 40s,' she told People.

'Especially for Latinas! Many feel like, "Oh I have dark skin therefore I don't need sunblock," but that's just not true. All skin types need protection from UV rays.'

She stays hydrated

When asked for her top beauty tip by People, Eva was quick to extol the virtues of H20.

'I drink a lot of water. I got those “Starbucks cups” that everybody has. They’re the hard cups with the straw. So I just fill those up with water and for some reason, when it has a straw, I’m able to drink way more water than before. It feels like I’m drinking a soda even though I’m not!'
