Katy Perry has given an update on a “sobriety pact” she made with Orlando Bloom.

The singer, 38, began abstaining from alcohol on February 20th, explaining that she did it as an act of support while her partner of seven years was focusing on a new film.

She told People: ‘We did this because he’s shooting a movie in London right now that’s taking every ounce of his focus, and so I wanted that opportunity to be supportive.

‘It’s really hard to do anything — whether that’s doing a cleanse or a reset — unless your partner’s doing it. So, doing it together makes it so much easier.’

Three months later, she admitted that she has appreciated the time away from booze and is ‘not really drinking ‘on weeknights, ‘but on the weekend I’ll indulge a little bit.’

Katy, who shares daughter Daisy Dove, 2, with Orlando, added: ‘For me, it was an opportunity to reset, and it was a great opportunity to just let my body bounce back a little bit. I’ve had a pretty good relationship with just finding balance.’

She first revealed the pact on an episode of American Idol when she told fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan at a cocktail making event, ‘I’ve been sober for five weeks today. I’ve been doing a pact with my partner and I want to quit. I can’t cave. I made a promise. Three months.’

Katy also has a business case to be more mindful of her drinking - she’s co-founder of a 0% aperitif’s range, De Soi which is ‘Inspired by the French ethos of pleasure and restraint, De Soi is a range of non-alcoholic apéritifs made with natural adaptogens.’

She added that she doesn’t ‘really identify with any labels as far as sober or whatever [… but] I love to have my reset moments, especially being 38, balancing the intensity of my career and having a toddler who loves to run.’
