As a beauty writer, I'm continuously asked by friends whether Beauty Pie is worthy of the hype – and the answer is always yes. Frankly, I haven't met a beauty editor, or even a living person, who hasn't waxed poetic about this members-only beauty club.

The Pie has had pride of place in my beauty cupboard for years but, recently, the brand has been pulling out the stops with new launches and collaborations to know about.

What is Beauty Pie?

Here’s a little industry secret that you may not know about: when you’re buying a product, the price tag you see is usually around a 50% markup from the cost it took to produce.

For example, if you’re buying an £80 foundation, it probably cost around £40 (or less) to make. So, in between the factory and the retail store, there is a big bump up in price – usually because of adverts, celebrity promotions etc.

This system is what inspired Beauty Pie. Founded by Marcia Kilgore (of Soap & Glory and Bliss Spa fame), this online-only brand cuts out all the frills and faff that make your beauty products so pricey. It brings you the best-in-the-business formulas, for a snip of the big-brand price tags.

Take retinol, for example. We all know this super ingredient is the gold standard when it comes to rejuvenating skin, but it’s also true that many of the most hyped bottles come with a triple-figure price tag.

In contrast, Beauty Pie’s Super Retinol Serum is made in the same Swiss lab as many of the world’s biggest brands, comes in a simple white pump-action tube, and costs just £18.50, (which is merely the cost of production, plus a few essential extras).

Beauty Pie Reviews: The serum

Youthbomb™

Youthbomb™
£185 at Beauty Pie

Members' price: £44.00

Youthbomb is one of the brand's bestselling products – and if you give it a go, you’ll quickly see why. I don’t think I’ve come across a beauty editor that has a bad word to say about it: it was formulated with renowned consultant dermatologist, Dr Andrew Markey, so it’s truly one of the best money can buy.

It may make some bold claims, but this golden serum truly lives up to the hype. Youth-boosting peptides, skin-smoothing hexapeptide and barrier-bolstering proteins work together to tighten, brighten and improve the overall appearance of your skin.

I am well aware of its upscale price tag, so it’s the only Beauty Pie product I recommend if it’s payday or if you're really getting serious about skincare. But if you’re willing to make the splurge, this one is truly worth signing up for if you want skin compliments coming in by the bucketful.

Beauty Pie Reviews: The high-tech moisturiser

Breakthrough Repair Cream

Breakthrough Repair Cream

Members' price: £49

I have something to admit. When I discovered that Beauty Pie was expanding its Youthbomb family with the Breakthrough Repair Cream, I felt rather underwhelmed. The original serum is such a hero in my routine that I didn't think something could impress me as much. Well, once again, the Pie has delivered.

What I love is how refreshingly lightweight the cream is but it doesn't feel too rich on the skin. And besides the sensorial element, the advanced formula contains an anti-ageing complex (named REGEN F-25) which plumps out fine lines, smooths texture and fades pigmentation. It's a real winner in my eyes.

Beauty Pie Reviews: The radiant base

Luminous Mineral Skin Tint

Luminous Mineral Skin Tint

Members' price: £16.50

I've forever been a fan of the Beauty Pie Sheer Tinted Oil-Free skin tint, but this newcomer is an even better match for my dry skin. It has a similar finish to the Sheer Tinted skin tint, but it packs a more radiant punch with SPF40.

Said to be 'half a sunscreen and half a complexion-perfecting skin tint', the lightweight formula easily taps into the skin to softly fade texture, redness and pigmentation while protecting against UV rays.

It's my latest summer makeup bag staple and, due to its zinc oxide base, it's suitable for sensitive skin too.

Soul Providers Energizing Body Wash

Soul Providers Energizing Body Wash

Members' price: £14

This zesty body wash is my favourite way to start the day. It lathers into a bubbly foam that feels soft and silky against the skin and it lingers with a revitalizing aroma of orange, lemon, grapefruit, black pepper and pine. As for the skin-loving benefits, it's packed with aloe vera so my body feels soft and nourished as I step out of the shower.

Beauty Pie Reviews: The easy contour wand

Quick Colour Contour Supergel

Quick Colour Contour Supergel

Members' price: £12.50

Beauty Pie describes this bronzer as 'sculpting for dummies', and I couldn't agree more. It's an obvious look alike to another well-known player, just with a smaller price tag.

The sponge tip applicator makes contour as easy as it can be, ensuring that definition is created in the right places. And trust me, once you master the art of strategic sculpting, it'll enhance your natural bone structure for a more lifted appearance.

Creamy and blendable, the gel can be swiped directly onto the skin, before being patted out with a brush. The pigment appears a little intimidating at first, but once buffed out, it instantly warms up the skin for a sun-kissed look. It's already waiting in my holiday makeup bag.

Beauty Pie Reviews: The blush stick

Sam Chapman & Beauty Pie The Blushy Lip & Cheek Tint

Sam Chapman & Beauty Pie The Blushy Lip & Cheek Tint

Members' price: £14.00

This is a stellar collaboration I never knew I needed: Sarah Chapman x Beauty Pie. The collection consists of nine cosmetic items, from eye crayons to liquid lipsticks, but my personal favourite is the Blushy Lip & Cheek Tint.

As soon as I swatched it onto the back of my hand, I instantly knew I'd get along with it. The creamy stick easily glides onto the skin, leaving a pigmented wash of colour.

It's sheer yet buildable and comes in a flattering rose-nude shade that can be dabbed onto the cheeks, lips or even eyelids. It's here for a limited time only, so act now.

Superbrow Angled Shaping Pencil

Superbrow Angled Shaping Pencil

Members' price: £12

I'm fussy when it comes to brow products, with only a few loyal favourites featuring in my makeup bag. However, Beauty Pie's take on a fine-nibbed, easy-to-blend brow archer has impressed me.

Not usually do I like triangular-tipped pencils – I find them challenging to manage – but this made crafting natural-looking hairs a breeze. The creamy, pigmented formula glides on and then I use the spoolie to fluff up my brows.

Frankly, I wouldn't spend £28 – there are perfectly good, cheaper alternatives that do the job – but £12 for a member is a very reasonable price.

Beauty Pie Reviews: The natural lash

Wrap Star Tubing Mascara

Wrap Star Tubing Mascara

Members' price: £10

I see this as the perfect middle-ground mascara. It's not delicate like the Glossier Lash Slicks of the world, nor does it provide an intense look like YSL's Lash Clash. It sits somewhere in between for a noticeable yet natural finish.

The polymer bristles grip into each lash hair to lift and separate while adding a jet-black pigment. I'm equally as impressed by its wear too; there's no flaking or smudging but it easily breaks down with the help of a good makeup remover.

Beauty Pie Reviews: The deep hydrator

Super Healthy Hair Luscious Moisture Treatment Masque

Super Healthy Hair Luscious Moisture Treatment Masque
Now 49% Off

Members' price: £10.00

The roles have been reversed here; this was a Beauty Pie product that my friend (who is a hairdresser) recommended to me, and I am so glad she did.

Not only does it make my lengths look and feel like I've spent two hours in a salon chair, but it's packed with the perfect concoction of ingredients to revive damaged, broken and brittle ends back to full health. There's hyaluronic acid to hydrate, argan oil to nourish and a keratin-like complex to strengthen bonds.

Use this once a week and your best hair yet lies ahead (take it from someone who is no stranger to bleaching).

Beauty Pie Reviews: The skin smoother

+ Vitamin C Night Renewal Moisturiser (1% Retinol Complex)

+ Vitamin C Night Renewal Moisturiser (1% Retinol Complex)

Members' price: £18.50

Retinol is the gold-standard ingredient for banishing pigmentation and smoothing fine lines, but there’s a misconception that you should start using it later on in life. Wrongo. The best time to start using retinol is in your mid-twenties as it’s all about prevention.

So, if you’re like my friends and are new to active skincare, this is a great place to start. Beauty Pie's easy retinol cream contains encapsulated vitamin A, meaning the resurfacing active is released gradually through the night, leading to less irritation. Ferulic acid bolsters its effectiveness, while hyaluronic acid lends deep hydration.

Beauty Pie Reviews:

Happy Face Cream

Happy Face Cream

Members' price: £22

Beauty Pie has bottled up the transformative, skin-soothing benefits of azelaic acid into its Happy Face serum. Containing 10% azelaic acid, alongside niacinamide and calming centella asiatica, the gel moisturiser acts as a comfort blanket on stressed-out and irritated skin.

Whether you're battling a rosacea flare-up or dealing with an acne breakout, apply the treatment before you moisturise and it will bring down redness and restore a sense of calm to your skin barrier. This alone is worth a slice of the pie.

Beauty Pie Reviews: The body scrub

Soul Providers Re-energizing Dry Oil Sugar Scrub

Soul Providers Re-energizing Dry Oil Sugar Scrub

Members' price: £16

I'm not exaggerating but the Soul Providers body scrub is the greatest of all time. I can confidently say that this pot of orange, sugary goodness has elevated my shower routine ten-fold and leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft and smelling delicious, too.

The fine sugar crystals are enveloped in nourishing essential oils so it also ticks the moisturising box.

Beauty Pie Reviews: The vitamin C capsules

Superactive Capsules Pure Double Vitamin C & Vitamin E Serum

Superactive Capsules Pure Double Vitamin C & Vitamin E Serum

Members' price: £16.00

Is it just me or does anyone else find bursting a capsule filled with the perfect proportion of serum incredibly satisfying? If you share my gratification, you'll love Beauty Pie's Superactive Capsules. Each one delivers a single dose of vitamin C, sealed within a biodegradable shell, so you’re getting the freshest treatment every time.

Simply twist the neck to open and tap the serum onto cleansed skin. Regular use will lead to brighter, more unified skin that glows.

Beauty Pie Reviews: The holy-grail cream

Triple Hyaluronic Acid Deep Moisture Miracle Cream

Triple Hyaluronic Acid Deep Moisture Miracle Cream

Members' price: £22.00

Everyone could do with a bit of hyaluronic acid in their skincare routine, and this one is one I recommend time and time again. The lightweight cream is pumped up with three forms of the good stuff, which hydrates on the surface and deeper layers of the skin.

The ingredients are oh-so-kind (so even the sensitive can get involved) and it's as easy as applying it in the morning and evening for a healthy, hydrated and happy complexion.

Beauty Pie reviews: The SOS mask

Elastic-Repair Treatment

Elastic-Repair Treatment

Members' price: £12.00

My closest friend has a toxic relationship with her straighteners, so when she came to me with her damaged-hair woes, this was the first product I recommended (this and Olaplex).

The Repair treatment is an SOS mask that does a bit of everything: it strengthens and seals broken hair bonds, smooths split ends, repairs heat damage and leaves a lovely shine too.

If you’ve got dry, crispy ends, opt for the Treatment Masque, but if breakage is your biggest bugbear, this is your new hero product.

How does Beauty Pie work?

shape, rectangle

Beauty Pie is like Amazon Prime, but for beauty. You pay a monthly subscription but instead of getting next day delivery (which you can also get on Beauty Pie, just saying), you get access to a wide range of beauty products at a special members' price.

Nothing is stopping you from shopping without a membership, but you’ll just have a hefty basket in your checkout. So, yes, that’s the catch. Only Beauty Pie members can gain access to these wallet-friendly prices, which means you’ll need to sign up before you overhaul your entire bathroom cupboard.

The most economical – but this of course does depends on how many goodies you end up buying yourself – is the Beauty Pie Annual membership. This costs £59 per year (or £4.95 monthly) and grants you unlimited access to as much Pie as you can handle. With no spending cap, you can stock up on as much, or as little, as you’d like.

Alternatively, you can opt for the Beauty Pie Monthly membership. For £10 a month you'll have access to the entire Beauty Pie site and its affordable prices. You can cancel at any time, and you get special perks for your friends. But, sorry, there is a monthly spending cap. Once you hit the £300 threshold, you’re cut off, but that does renew each month.

Is there a Beauty Pie free trial?

shape, rectangle

If you don't want to commit to a membership, there is nothing stopping you from getting in on the Pie and loading up your cart anyways. But you can sign up for a 30-day free trial if you want a taste of what 70% off luxury beauty feels like. Better yet, you can cancel at any time.

Now, before we continue, I will say there is a lot of choice on Beauty Pie – and it can get a little overwhelming to decide what is best for you. There definitely are products I'd recommend you skip, but what’s more fun is to share the ones that I genuinely love and recommend to friends.
