Eva Dematteis changing the Goffstown lacrosse program
Goffstown lacrosse star Eva Dematteis checks all the boxes. The senior has scored 200 goals in her career.
"It was really exciting. But I definitely couldn't have done it without my team," Dematteis said.
As a leader, she deflects attention back to the team.
"I think we've grown a lot as a team together, and individually, we've grown tremendously, and I'm very excited to see how this season will turn out," Dematteis said.
"She is so beyond excited to see her teammates do something great, like sometimes even more excited for them than they are for themselves," said Goffstown girls lacrosse coach Marisa McLaughlin.
Even when talking about her skills, the student with a 4.0 GPA doesn't put the focus on her natural talents.
"I do a lot of other sports which I think also help me gain a lot of skill. And I've been working with my coaches, Coach Marissa, Coach Green. I definitely wouldn't be able to do it without them," Dematteis said.
With dedication and help from her team, Dematteis made program history by committing to play at the University of New Hampshire. She's the program's first Division I commit.
"I'm so excited. I know that it's going to be a lot of hard work, but I'm definitely prepared, and I can't wait for the future," Dematteis said.
