Hope is waiting for you at the Monadnock Humane Society

UPDATE: Hope was adopted at the start of July. The Monadnock Humane Society (MHS) has many animals waiting to be adopted.Hope is a 7-year-old pit/terrier mix who is house-trained and knows basic commands.Hope is the kind of pet that will bond with you and give back all the love and attention you give to her.Like any dog, Hope loves to sniff around in the yard, get butt scratches, and go for nice walks where she can explore, but she must be on a leash because she could be reactive to other dogs; she simply has limited experience with other animals and for that reason, she needs to be adopted into a home without other pets.Shortly after Hope’s arrival at MHS, she got the nickname Hippo for her short, stocky, gray-and-white build. Since then, she has shown the shelter staff how much of a hippo she really is with her love of jumping into the kitty pool to cool off from the sun and lap up some cool water. She can be a tad impatient when she wants something like a treat but if you toss her one, she will catch it right out of the air! Hope is more likely to cuddle up with her person than play fetch but genuinely just wants to be around people and be seen for the sweet thing she is. Despite her large size, Hope would be totally fine in a home with children.Hope’s adoption fee is $300, which is due at the time of adoption. She will need a leash and martingale collar to go home with, both are available for sale onsite at MHS.MHS is open for visitors Thursday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and anyone with questions about Hope can call the adoption center at 603-354-4004.
