Former nurse pleads guilty to taking fentanyl from operating room patient
A former nurse accused of taking fentanyl from an operating room patient in April has pleaded guilty to one of the charges against her.
Robin Nichols, 64, told a federal judge Wednesday she took fentanyl meant for an operating room patient while working at Catholic Medical Center.
Nichols is also charged with obtaining a controlled drug by misrepresentation, fraud, deception or subterfuge. The judge told her that the charge could be dismissed, but proceedings for that won't happen until after her sentencing in September.

Nichols was accused of swapping a patient's fentanyl with saline and hydromorphone. She could face up to 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.
She will also give up her nursing license under the terms of her plea agreement.
Nichols' attorney said she accepts full responsibility for her conduct and is looking forward to having everything resolved.
