Facing termination hearing, Manchester director of housing services resigns
The Manchester mayor's office announced Thursday afternoon that the city's director of housing services has resigned.
Adrienne Beloin had faced a termination hearing scheduled for Thursday, but that meeting was canceled as she submitted her resignation.
The office of Manchester Mayor Jay Ruais said the personnel matter has been resolved and said Ruais would not be commenting further.
Under the settlement agreement reached by Beloin and the city of Manchester, Beloin will receive $25,000 in compensatory damages, $27,000 in wages and $5,000 in attorney's fees.
Beloin was put on paid leave after comments she made to the Board of Aldermen insinuating that they don't understand the work she and her team do for the city's homeless population.
"We make the policy for the city, and under the charter, she has to follow the policy of the alderman and the mayor, and she refused to do so – which gave us the grounds for termination," said alderman at-large, Joe Kelly Levasseur.

At a meeting last week, alderman at-large, Dan O'Neil, fired back at Beloin's claims, telling her he wished she wouldn't talk down to the board.
She was put on administrative leave and went on WFEA radio, doubling down on her original comments. She said she didn't mean to insult the board but called it "just a reality" that board members don't have a background on homeless issues.
The dispute came as the board decided to relocate Beloin's office from City Hall to the 39 Beech St. homeless shelter, a move she resisted.
Kelly Levasseur said he's pushing for the next director to be chosen quickly, even within the next 30 days, ideally someone with experience and a hands-on approach.
"Hopefully, we can start fresh with somebody and get things done," Kelly Levasseur said.
News 9 reached out to Beloin for comment but has not heard back.
Her resignation is effective Friday.
