THIS IS A WMUR EDITORIAL SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF THE EDITORIAL BOARD. WMUR PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER ANDREW ANDREW VREES. NEW HAMPSHIRE HAS SO MUCH TO OFFER. THE LAKES, THE MOUNTAINS, THE COAST, NO INCOME OR SALES TAXES, AND AN UNDENIABLY INDEPENDENT SPIRIT. AND LIKE EVERYWHERE ELSE, THERE ARE THE CHALLENGES. THANKFULLY, THERE ARE THE HUNDREDS OF NONPROFITS AND THEIR VOLUNTEERS WHO WORK TIRELESSLY TO MAKE THIS PLACE WE CALL HOME A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE AND WORK. NONPROFITS PLAY A FUNDAMENTAL ROLE IN CREATING THRIVING COMMUNITIES. THEY SUPPORT THOSE WHO NEED EXTRA HELP OR CAUSES THEY FEEL PASSIONATE ABOUT. THERE ARE COUNTLESS WAYS NONPROFITS MAKE A DIFFERENCE FROM FEEDING THE HUNGRY TO SAVING ANIMALS AND PRECIOUS LANDS, KEEPING THE ARTS ALIVE, SUPPORTING OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS. AND THEY GIVE ALL OF US THE OPPORTUNITY TO VOLUNTEER IN A MEANINGFUL WAY. BUT IN ADDITION TO THE HARD WORK AND PASSION THESE NONPROFITS NEED FUNDING TO KEEP MAKING A DIFFERENCE. THIS MONTH, NEW HAMPSHIRE GIVES OFFERS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY A 24 HOUR FUNDRAISING EVENT STARTING ON JUNE 11TH AT 5 P.M. TO RAISE BOTH MONEY AND AWARENESS ABOUT THE HUNDREDS OF NONPROFITS WORKING IN OUR COMMUNITY EVERY DAY. LAST YEAR, THEY RAISED $3.5 MILLION AND OVER EIGHT YEARS MORE THAN $15 MILLION HAS BEEN GIVEN TO MORE THAN 1000 NONPROFITS IN NEW HAMPSHIRE. THIS IS JUST ONE DAY. BUT THESE NONPROFITS DEPEND ON YOUR GENEROSITY TO DO THEIR WORK EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR. And, like everywhere else, there are the challenges.Thankfully, there are the hundreds of nonprofits and their volunteers who work tirelessly to make this place we call home a better place to live and work.Nonprofits play a fundamental role in creating thriving communities. They support those who need extra help or causes they feel passionate about.There are countless ways nonprofits make a difference, from feeding the hungry to saving animals and precious lands, keeping the arts alive, supporting our future generations. And they give all of us the opportunity to volunteer in a meaningful way.
