MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A few daily showers and storms will give way to the potential for some drought-easing rainfall by the end of week. All the while, high humidity will keep the heat index between 100 and 105 each day.

WEDNESDAY

Wednesday will be another typical July day with high heat and humidity. Afternoon temperatures will climb into the upper 80s to near 90 at the beaches and into the lower to middle 90s inland. With the abundant humidity around, a few afternoon showers and storms will be possible with rain chances at 30%.

REST OF THE WEEK

Tropical humidity will continue to stream into the Carolinas Thursday through Saturday and will even increase further. At the same time, a weak area of low pressure plus a stalled front will help to generate much higher chances of much needed rainfall at times. Rain chances will start to rise on Thursday to 40%. The best chance of rain arrives on Friday when areas of locally heavy rain could develop in some areas and rain chances have been increased to 60%. By Saturday, the chance of storms returns to 40%, but isolated pockets of heavy rain will remain possible. Temperatures will ease down just a bit thanks to clouds and rain chances, but the heat index will remain near 100.

Beneficial rainfall will be possible with models and the latest data suggest one to as much as 3 inches of rain across the area Thursday and Friday.

THIS WEEKEND

More typical summer weather returns again this week with daytime temperatures in the upper 80s and lower 90s. The high humidity will again push the heat index to as high as 105 at times. A 40% chance of showers and storms on Saturday will return to 30% on Sunday.
