Georgia fugitive arrested after crash at Walmart Neighborhood Market in Myrtle Beach

A man wanted in the state of Georgia was arrested here in Myrtle Beach.

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A man wanted in the state of Georgia was arrested here in Myrtle Beach.

Myrtle Beach police were called on Sunday to the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 1705 South Kings Highway for a crash on the property.

While completing the crash report, an officer discovered Clifton Earl Coley, Jr. was a fugitive from Georgia evading law enforcement, according to documents from the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

The Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office wanted Coley for failure to appear after he was originally charged with aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer when engaged on official duty, an offense that carries a sentence of at least a year behind bars.

WMBF News has reached out to the sheriff’s office to learn more about the allegations against Coley.

Myrtle Beach police arrested Coley for fugitive from justice and booked him into jail.

He will be extradited to Dekalb County for his charges there.
