Brian Hamrick

Brian Hamrick is a eight-time Emmy winner, two of them as outstanding reporter, another for exceptional writing. He has also been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists, Cleveland Press Club and Associated Press.

Brian Hamrick joined News 5 in July 1998. He began his reporting career in 1987 in Clarksburg, W. Va., and has reported for stations in Charleston, W. Va., and Oklahoma City.

Brian has an associate's degree in radio, television and film from Fairmont State College, a bachelor's degree in communication from James Madison University and a master's degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma.

Brian honed his skill with a microphone as a standup comedian working out of Orlando, Fla. He jokes that he got into news after comedy "because the two are so are similar." Outside the newsroom, his hobbies include "running, getting injured while running, and running."
