Ruth Lyons Children's Fund: Local businesses making a difference for young hospital patients
YEAH. ALL RIGHT. WELL, TO BE ABLE TO BE TO CONTINUE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE, MORE GOOD NEWS HERE FOR YOUNG HOSPITAL PATIENTS THROUGH THROUGH THE RUTH LYONS CHILDREN’S FUND. BOTH GRADERS IN CONEY ISLAND HELPED RAISE MONEY FOR THE FUND DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON THROUGH EVENTS LIKE THE CHRISTMAS KNIGHTS OF LIGHTS THAT WE WERE TELLING YOU ABOUT. AND TODAY THEY PRESENTED A CHECK FOR NEARLY $11,600 TO OUR RUTH LYONS CHILDREN’S FUND, WITH THEM GIVING BACK TO RUTH LYONS IS ALWAYS SOMETHING THAT WE ARE SO EXCITED TO DO, THAT WE’RE SO THANKFUL TO BE PART OF THAT CHARITY AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO MANY YEARS OF BEING ABLE TO PARTNER WITH THEM. RIGHT. SO THIS IS THE SEVENTH YEAR FOR THE RUTH LYONS KNIGHTS OF LIGHTS AT FOR CHRISTMAS AND WE’VE PARTNERED WITH GREETERS FOR, WELL, MORE THAN A DECADE NOW. AND WE COULDN’T DO IT WITHOUT OUR COMMUNITY SUPPORT. SO MANY OF YOU OUT THERE, OF COURSE, THESE HUGE LOCAL COMPANIES THAT HELP US YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT WHERE WE RAISE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO HELP KIDS WHO ARE IN AREA HOSPITALS. IT’S ALSO, LIKE YOU SAID, THE ONES THAT MAIL. AND WHEN WE SAY GO TO THAT P.O. BOX, THE PEOPLE THAT ARE SITTING THERE CHECK STILL OR MAILING IN WHATEVER THEY HAVE TO HELP OUT. AND IT’S FOR SUCH A GOOD CAUSE, NOT JUST FOR AROUND THE HOLIDAYS. I KNOW THAT WE TALK ABOUT RUTH LYONS AND THE PARTIES THAT ARE ABLE TO BE PROVIDED THANKS TO THAT FUND AS WELL, BUT ALSO THEY’RE ABLE TO HELP OUT THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE YEAR FOR THESE KIDS WHO ARE IN SITUATIONS THAT NOBODY ADULTS DON’T WANT TO SEE THEMSELVES IN. SO WHEN YOU HAVE A KID IN THIS UNFORTUNATE SITUATION, IT’S REALLY NICE THAT WE ARE ABLE TO LEND THAT HELPING HAND AND PROUD THAT TO BE ABLE TO BE PART OF IT TOO, AND THAT RUTH’S LEGACY
