IT’S RESULTING IN VISITS TO CINCINNATI FROM COLLEGE BASKETBALL’S TOP GENERALS, INCLUDING UCONN’S GENO AURIEMMA. IT’S HARD BECAUSE IT’S LIKE, I DON’T KNOW WHEN EXACTLY, BUT LIKE ME AND MY MOM, LIKE WE HAVE TALKED EVERY DAY. Purcell Marian girls basketball star Dee Alexander has won the Ohio Ms. Basketball award for the second consecutive season.Alexander, a junior, led Purcell Marian to back-to-back state championships in her freshman and sophomore seasons.Now, one of the top college prospects in state history has won Ohio's top individual honor for the second time.Now in its 37th year, the prestigious award was first given by the Associated Press in 1988 but has been voted by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association since 2017.Loudonville senior Corri Vermilya was the runner-up. Pickerington Central senior Berry Wallace finished third, and Shaker Heights Laurel sophomore Saniyah Hall finished fourth. Alexander spoke with WLWT earlier this year, saying she has narrowed down her end list of scholarships to the final 15 schools. She is one of the top five recruits in the United States for the class of 2025.That standing has resulted in visits to Cincinnati this season from top college coaches, including UConn's Geno Auriemma."I don't know when exactly (to make the decision)," Alexander said. "Me and my mom, we have talked every day. Sooner or later, I am going to have to commit somewhere and I am going to have to go to the next level and go to college and go play."Before a final decision is made, the Cavaliers are going for a three-peat, carrying the quiet confidence of a classy champion."It's fun just being here and having two banners up on the wall," Alexander said. "It's just keeping it going, work everyday, work hard, keep applying that pressure to the other teams. Just keep building."
