Death of nurse remains under investigation a month after she was 'dropped off' at hospital by fiancé
The death of a 28-year-old nurse remains under investigation one month after she died.
Carrissa Stevenson was pronounced dead at Jewish Hospital on June 1 after investigators said she was dropped off there by her fiancé.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office released two reports to WLWT on Tuesday detailing part of its investigation into her death.
Just after 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, deputies were dispatched to the hospital.
According to an incident report, Stevenson's fiancé, Brian Soder, 40, told deputies that Stevenson "was intoxicated the previous evening and had fallen down the stairs multiple times while going into the basement" inside his Appleknoll Lane home in Sycamore Township.
The report states that Soder said he left the home around 7 a.m. to pick up a television near the Bengals stadium, and when he returned around 8:30 a.m., Stevenson was still breathing.
Soder reportedly told investigators that he checked on Stevenson "several times throughout the morning," and she was "still breathing but was unresponsive."
The report states that Soder checked on Stevenson again at approximately 2:30 p.m. and "discovered that she was not breathing."
He said he then placed her in a vehicle and drove her to the hospital.
Hospital staff said Stevenson was "completely nude" upon arrival.
Staff said life-saving measures were attempted, but she was ultimately pronounced dead. When a staff member called the police, Soder was still on the scene, the report states.
A deputy called in the Criminal Investigation Section and asked investigators to respond to Soder's home.
Five days later, Soder died of an apparent suicide, according to the Hamilton County Coroner.
The coroner's office told WLWT on Tuesday investigators still haven't ruled on a cause or manner of Stevenson's death.
The sheriff's office said her death is still under investigation.
According to Stevenson's obituary, she was a "loving soul who enjoyed her career as a surgical nurse and playing mom to her dogs. An avid soccer player and fan since she was 5 years old, she spent her life pursuing her passions for sports, travel, and seeking new experiences."
Stevenson had recently moved to the Cincinnati area.
