NAMED TO THE UNITED STATES ROSTER. AND TODAY, THE ORANGE AND BLUE STAR DEFENDER DISCUSSING THE DREAM COME TRUE AND WHAT IT MEANS TO HIM, WHAT IT MEANS TO HIS FAMILY, SPORTS REPORTER OLIVIA RAY JOINING US NOW WITH MORE. HI THERE OLIVIA. IT’S ALSO WHAT IT MEANS FOR THE CLUB. A LOT OF EYES ARE ON THIS FC CINCINNATI SHORTHANDED. AND SO THIS COULD PRESENT A PROBLEM FOR THEM. MYLES ROBINSON IS BACK IN CINCINNATI. JUST BRIEFLY THOUGH, FRESH OFF HIS STINT WITH THE U.S. MEN’S NATIONAL TEAM FOR THE COPA AMERICA TOURNAMENT TODAY, HE EXPRESSED HIS GRATITUDE FOR FCC FOR ALLOWING HIM TO TAKE PART IN THIS ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY, DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY’RE SHORTHANDED HERE ON DEFENSE AT HOME. IT’S BEEN 16 YEARS SINCE THE U.S. MEN’S SOCCER TEAM APPEARED ON THE OLYMPIC STAGE. COINCIDENTALLY, THE 2008 BEIJING GAMES HAPPENED TO BE THE FIRST OLYMPIC MEMORIES FOR FC CINCINNATI’S MILES ROBINSON. I REMEMBER IN MY COUSIN’S HOUSE IN LIKE THIS, ONE OF ONE OF THESE SUMMERS, IT WAS WHEN MICHAEL PHELPS WENT CRAZY. YOU KNOW, I REMEMBER ALL MY COUSINS AND, YOU KNOW, MY SISTER AND MY FAMILY ALL GOING CRAZY AS HE JUST NARROWLY WINS ONE OF HIS, LIKE EIGHT GOLD MEDALS OR SOMETHING CRAZY LIKE THAT. I DIDN’T WANT TO THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT IT BECAUSE I WAS A FEAR I WOULD GET HEARTBROKEN OR SOMETHING LIKE THIS. SO I TOLD MY FAMILY WHEN I HAD LIKE A LITTLE BIT OF A HUNCH, AND THEN THEY’RE OBVIOUSLY EXCITED, BUT ALMOST TOO EXCITED FOR ME. SO I WAS LIKE, STOP TALKING ABOUT IT. LIKE, UM, SO BUT ONCE I ACTUALLY WAS OFFICIALLY ON THE ROSTER, I CALLED LIKE MY WHOLE FAMILY. AND THEY WERE, YOU KNOW, LIKE SUPER EXCITED, CRYING AND ALL THAT TEARS ARE WARRANTED FOR A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY AT 27 YEARS OLD, ROBINSON IS THE SECOND OLDEST ON THE SUB 23 ROSTER, BEING ONE OF THE THREE OVERAGE PLAYERS PICKED TO REPRESENT HIS COUNTRY COMES WITH AN EXPANDED ROLE FOR ROBINSON. I DON’T THINK I’M THAT OLD, BUT WE’LL SEE. BUT DEFINITELY HE’S EXPECTING A LEADERSHIP ROLE AND, UM, I’M YOU KNOW, DEFINITELY GOING TO PROVIDE THAT AND, UH, JUST TRY TO PROVIDE, YOU KNOW, SOME CONFIDENCE. UH, YOU KNOW, IN THAT BACK LINE. NOW, THE US MEN’S SOCCER TEAM, THEY HAVE NEVER WON AN OLYMPIC GOLD. AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT ROBINSON IS GOING FOR. BUT BEFORE ROBINSON DOES HEAD TO FRANCE, HE WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR FC CINCINNATI THROUGH JULY 17TH. THAT’S THE NEXT TWO MATCHES. THEN TEAM USA TAKES ON FRANCE ON JULY 24TH IN THE GROUP STAGE, AND TEAM USA HAS A PRETTY DECENT CHANCE IN THAT GRO
