New exhibit at Kennedy Heights Arts Center to showcase Indian artists; opening reception Saturday
The Kennedy Heights Arts Center announced that it is hosting a collection of Indian-made art from early July through the end of August.Mallory Feltz, the director of exhibitions and public art at the gallery, explained how the exhibit came to be in a press release."Saad Ghosn, curator for this exhibition and founder of SOS ART, traveled all over India meeting artists and gallery owners, collecting works to be included in this stunning international show," Feltz said. "He brought back close to 300 prints from contemporary Indian printmakers, and 210 of these prints by 97 contemporary Indian artists will be on view at KHAC, 6546 Montgomery Road, from July 6 - August 31, 2024."The opening reception of the event will be held on July 6 from 6 to 8 p.m., where Anant and Shilpa Nikam, two of the artists featured in the exhibit, will talk about their work. Live music will also be featured as part of the event.Additionally, on Aug. 10, the gallery will be hosting an Indian Cultural Festival, where visitors can "experience Indian culture through music, dance, food, poetry, and art making," according to the press release. Ghosn will also be present throughout the day and give guided tours of the exhibition during the event.More prints from the curated exhibit can also be found at Off Ludlow Gallery, located at 3408 Ormond Ave. in Cincinnati. This collection is smaller than the one featured at Kennedy Heights Arts Center but will have distinct pieces of art that are different than that of the exhibit's main gallery.The Kennedy Heights Arts Center is open Tuesday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. The gallery is also open on Saturday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. It is closed on Sundays and Mondays.The Ludlow Gallery will be open on Fridays between 5 and 8 p.m., as well as Saturdays and Sundays between 2 and 5 p.m.More details can be found on Kennedy Heights Arts Center's website.
