Explore iconic history and test out a racing simulator at the National Corvette Museum
Welcome back to eat, play, stay. We're milking Bowling Green, Kentucky for all it's worth from the drag strip to the dairy barn up next *** dark night at the museum. Bob Bugs is the curator collections and exhibit manager at the National Corvette Museum Corvette enthusiast established the museum in 1994 and you can follow the story of this iconic American sports car which began in 1953. You can see the great prototypes and you can see the concept vehicles, the race cars that helped to build Corvette's reputation as *** high performance vehicle. There's *** hands exhibit two like *** simulator that lets you race *** Corvette. You can also literally feel the evolution of design and aerodynamics by touching one of the big things we want to do is entertain people and inform them with the history of Corvette. But we also want to inspire that next generation, older generations will also feel inspired. The Corvette has overcome many obstacles to become the car. It is today, one interesting fact about Corvette is it's the longest running mark car. There is any passenger car and one of the reasons for that is, is there's this never give up, never say die attitude that goes along with Corvette. One unfortunate incident occurred at the museum in the middle of the night. This security camera footage shows eight cars swallowed up by *** sinkhole. We rose from that and got stronger because of it. *** lot of people found out about us because of it. Our traffic increased. People were really want to see this and anybody who's really wanting to see what it was all about could look down *** manhole at what it looked like. How deep it was on that fateful day. One victim of the sinkhole is this 1962 Corvette which is now back on display and is *** tribute to the museum's commitment to history. This car was pulled out, fully restored, completely taken care of and down to the point where when we had the seats out, we found this sugar packet and we measured it. We took pictures in the sugar packet and then we put it right back where we found it when the restoration was finished. That was the last thing that was done because that's the way he gave us the car. That's the way we were gonna keep it. Not all cars display our Corvettes limited engagement exhibits at the museum mean chances are good. You'll see something new every year. When we visited in 2023 the museum was celebrating the work of designer Carl Casper. Now this is the exhibit car fans deserve.
