University of Cincinnati All-American and Preseason All-Big 12 selection Dontay Corleone is back practicing with the team, head coach Scott Satterfield said at Big 12 Media Days on Tuesday.Speaking with BYU TV at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, Satterfield says Corleone is back with the team after being away due to undergoing treatment for blood clots in his lungs. "First of all, our medical team has done an outstanding job identifying and attacking what he's got going on," Satterfield said. "He just working out last week, so he's back with the team this week. They worked out yesterday. I talked with our strength coach, and he's doing great. "I think we'll just lean on that medical advice and we'll just push forward. The goal is for him to be out there and playing with his team and playing at a high level, and I think that we'll be able to make that happen," Satterfield continued. The clots were discovered last month after Corleone told athletic trainers he had some chest discomfort and was experiencing shortness of breath.When news first broke, no timeline was given for how long Corleone would stay away from the girdiron."There's precedent," Satterfield said about Corleone's condition. "Guys have played through this, what he has, and I think hopefully he'll be able to do that as well."There's nothing else wrong. His heart's good, everything in his body's good. No other clots anywhere, so they've got it isolated," Satterfield said. "Once they know that - they know the problem, the know what's happening - they're able to attack that and be able to get through that."Nicknamed "The Godfather," Corleone finished the 2023 season with 39 tackles, 6.5 of which went for a loss, and 3.0 sacks. His efforts earned him Second Team All-Big 12 accolades from the AP and league's coaches.He finished the 2023 season as the Big 12's third-highest rated interior defensive lineman, posting a Pro Football Focus score of 83.6."He's in great sprits, working hard, and man, we're excited to have him back with the team working out," Satterfield said to round out the interview.Corleone is one of two Bearcats to have been named to the Preseason All-Big 12 team last week, along with offensive lineman Luke Kandra.
