Jayda Russell

Jayda Russell is both a reporter and a Storm Tracker Weather Team member. She joined WJCL 22 News in June of 2023. Jayda comes to Savannah from Madison, AL. She has also lived in a lot of fun places such as Chattanooga, Nashville, and Birmingham. She received her News Media degree from The University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) where she also became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Prior to joining WJCL, Jayda was a meteorology and news intern for WVUA in Tuscaloosa. Through that opportunity, she was able to report on local news and weather-related stories of the Tuscaloosa and Northport areas. She is looking forward to experiencing Savannah and reporting on the stories that make this area so unique and fascinating. One of her top priorities at WJCL includes helping keep the community weather aware.

When Jayda is not in the studio, you can find her reading a good book, sketching, or watching the weather. However, most of the time you can simply find Jayda cheering on The Crimson Tide and Atlanta Falcons!
