Jeremy Nelson

Meteorologist

Jeremy Nelson is the Chief Meteorologist for the StormTracker 22 Weather Team. He joined WJCL 22 News in January of 2017 from Hearst-owned WISN, the ABC affiliate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Jeremy has over two decades of experience forecasting and covering severe weather. He is proud to lead the area’s Certified Most Accurate weather team.

He is a member of the American Meteorological Society and served on the AMS Broadcast Board for 3 years. He has earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist distinction and the AMS Broadcast Seal.

Jeremy has covered numerous big weather stories at WJCL 22, including Hurricane Matthew, Tropical Storm Irma, Hurricane Dorian, and the January 3, 2018 winter storm.

Jeremy loves long range weather forecasting and uses forecast methods you will only find locally on WJCL 22 to produce detailed forecasts weeks or even months in advance. Each year on March 1 he releases the WJCL 22 long range forecast for the upcoming hurricane season.

He loves to share his passion for and knowledge about the weather with local schools and organizations. You can always find him connecting with viewers through social media and on the WJCL weather blog. Give him a follow, like, or share.

Before he worked in Milwaukee, Jeremy was the weekend meteorologist at KSHB-TV, the NBC affiliate in Kansas City. He also worked as the Chief Meteorologist at WMSN in Madison, Wisconsin. He earned his Meteorology degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

Jeremy, his wife and two daughters live in Savannah. When he’s not forecasting the weather, Jeremy enjoys spending time with family, attending his kids swim meets, fishing, and trying out as many local restaurants as possible.
