Shannon Royster

Shannon Royster is a Weeknight Evening Anchor for WJCL 22 News. She anchors the 6pm, 7pm and 11pm newscasts each weeknight.

Shannon loves being back in Savannah. Before anchoring in Charlotte and Nashville, Shannon was the morning-noon anchor in Savannah at another station. She’s also worked in Erie, PA and Shreveport, LA.

Shannon has covered several major news events throughout her career. Most recently, Shannon co-anchored comprehensive coverage of Hurricane Matthew and its aftermath for WJCL 22 News. Other major stories she’s covered include the Holly Bobo murder case and Vanderbilt Rape Case in Nashville, as well as the tragic drowning of six teens in a Louisiana river.

Shannon has won a regional Emmy, several regional AP awards and has earned several community service awards for her contributions to the communities in which she has lived.

An Akron, Ohio native, Shannon earned her Bachelors of Arts in English Literature from The Ohio State University. She then went on to earn her Masters of Arts in Journalism at Kent State University.

When she’s not working to bring you the many great stories of our area she loves spending time with her 8 year old son, discovering new restaurants and meeting new people. Shannon is a Member of Delta Sigma Theta and the National Association of Black Journalists.
