WJCL Editorial: Mark Cuban Suit Up Experience means business

A message from WJCL President and General Manager Ben Hart

It took me years to get to the realization that you can tell people what you want them to know by the way you present yourself. And at least in my line of work, the way you dress speaks volumes about how you want people to see you and react to you. When my favorite football team is playing, I wear t-shirts and ball caps with the logo to show my support. If I'm working to renovate or maintain my front yard, I put on clothes that I can get dirty in.When it is time to do serious business or go worship, that’s when I choose wear a suit. It means I want to show respect and I want to get respect. When I was a kid, my parents told me that was the way to do things.Four decades later, I wish that I had paid attention sooner. That’s what our partners with the Mark Cuban Heroes Basketball Center are trying to accomplish this month in Savannah. It’s called the "Suit Up Experience."Everything is better when you have access to a proper suit and you can play the game. This week WJCL 22 and the Mark Cuban team are working together again to help Savannah and Lowcountry area young men say 'Why not me?'If you are a 15 to 24 year old young man, all you have to do is register for one of our very limited spots for the suit up experience right now. And bring an open mind to listen. What we are offering is what the kids call, 'Free game.'Take this advice.Buy all the shoes you want, all the cool sweatpants or t-shirts you can think of, but remember. When you prepare yourself with a proper suit and a business first attitude. The world you imagine could be one step closer.I want to be clear. If you don’t register we can’t help you. if you don’t register correctly, we won’t accept you. This is what life is about, when you mean business.Wear a suit. It means business.I’m Ben Hart. Thank you for sharing this time.

When my favorite football team is playing, I wear t-shirts and ball caps with the logo to show my support.

If I'm working to renovate or maintain my front yard, I put on clothes that I can get dirty in.

When it is time to do serious business or go worship, that’s when I choose wear a suit. It means I want to show respect and I want to get respect. When I was a kid, my parents told me that was the way to do things.

Four decades later, I wish that I had paid attention sooner.

That’s what our partners with the Mark Cuban Heroes Basketball Center are trying to accomplish this month in Savannah.

It’s called the "Suit Up Experience."

Everything is better when you have access to a proper suit and you can play the game.

This week WJCL 22 and the Mark Cuban team are working together again to help Savannah and Lowcountry area young men say 'Why not me?'

If you are a 15 to 24 year old young man, all you have to do is register for one of our very limited spots for the suit up experience right now. And bring an open mind to listen.

What we are offering is what the kids call, 'Free game.'

Take this advice.

Buy all the shoes you want, all the cool sweatpants or t-shirts you can think of, but remember. When you prepare yourself with a proper suit and a business first attitude. The world you imagine could be one step closer.

I want to be clear. If you don’t register we can’t help you. if you don’t register correctly, we won’t accept you. This is what life is about, when you mean business.

Wear a suit. It means business.

I’m Ben Hart. Thank you for sharing this time.
