AS NICOLE MARCHES TOWARDS FLORIDA, COASTAL GEORGIA LEADERS ARE PREPARING FOR IMPACTS. OUR KYRON NEVEAUX SPOKE WITH TYBEE ISLAND OFFICIALS ON HOW THEY'RE GETTING READY. LL STAND UP - AS TROPICAL STORM NICOLE APPROACHES COASTAL GEORGIA, THE WINDS BEGIN TO PICK UP HERE TYBEE ISLAND AS YOU CAN SEE BEHIND ME AND CITY LEADERS ARE ASKING RESIDENTS TO STAY OUT OF THE WATER. CHIEF JORDAN JOHNSON, TYBEE ISLAND FIRE LUCKILY ENOUGH, IT IS A LITTLE COOL OUT, BUT IF THEY DO, IT IS VERY DANGEROUS WATER CONDITIONS. AS NICOLE APPROACHES WITH HEAVY WINDS, CHIEF JORDAN JOHNSON WITH TYBEE ISLAND FIRE DEPARTMENT SAYS THE WAVES WILL BECOME STRONGER. CHIEF JORDAN JOHNSON, TYBEE ISLAND FIRE I THINK WE ARE EXPECTING LIKE 13-FOOT BREAKERS, WHICH IS EXTREME FOR HERE. IF ANYONE CAN SEE THE WATER WITH THE WHEN BLOWING THE WAY IT IS.. WE HAVE REALLY LARGE WAVES AND ROUGH CONDITIONS. WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, FIRST RESPONDERS SAY THEY NOTICED THE RISING WATERS. CHIEF JORDAN JOHNSON, TYBEE ISLAND FIRE WATER MADE IT ALL THE WAY UP TO THE BOARDWALKS IF ANYONE HAS EVER BEEN OUT TO TYBEE BEFORE. WHERE THE CROSSWALK IS OVER THE DUNES. WATER MADE IT ALL THE WAY BUT THERE WITH THE TIDE AND THE WIND BLOWING DIRECTLY UP ONTO THE BEACH. CHIEF JORDAN ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO STAY AWAY FROM THE WATER. HE OFFERED THIS PIECE OF ADVICE. CHIEF JORDAN JOHNSON, TYBEE ISLAND FIRE WHEN IN DOUBT, STAY HOME. I ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE TO STAY HOME TO WATCH NETFLIX. Nicole marches towards Florida, coastal Georgia leaders are preparing for impacts.

Nicole is headed toward coastal Georgia bringing heaving winds to the area, including Tybee Island.Heavy winds coming to the area will allow waves to become stronger, which is why city officials are urging everyone to stay away from the water. " I think we are expecting like 13-foot breakers, which is extreme for here," said Chief Jordan Johnson from Tybee Island Fire Department. "If anyone can see the water with the wind blowing the way it is, we have really large waves and rough conditions."Tybee is expecting winds over 30 miles an hour; Johnson is hoping the cold winds will help keep people away. "Luckily enough, it is a little cool out; it is very dangerous water conditions," Johnson said.Outside of Heavy winds and waves, Johnson says they are anticipating some flooding on the impact weather day.
