The largest employer in Savannah, Gulfstream, is beginning a new partnership with CAE to help train more pilots.
The Canadian flight training company cutting the ribbon on their new facility Thursday.
"We make the world a safer place. We train pilots and technicians for the moments that matter," said Alexandre Prévost, division president, Business Aviation Training at CAE
Savannah community members like Alderwoman Linda Wilder Bryan and her granddaughter were a part of the flight simulations offered.
"We know that collaborations work. This is going to be amazing in this city to offer these jobs and new jet pilots, too," said Wilder-Bryan.
CAE chose to open a shop in Savannah, a prime location because of Gulfstream.
President Mark Burns says he hopes they grow like Gulfstream has.
"When I first started at Gulfstream, we had 900 employees, and for it to be 14,000 today is a testament to the commitment of this community and the state to allow us to grow to this point. I'm sure you'll again reap the same benefits that we have," said Burns.
At their grand opening on Davidson Drive they hosted the Canadian Ambassador to the United States where she praised the state for continuing to attract business.
"Georgia's a great place to do business. Georgia is a remarkable place to do business. Our companies are working to be bi-national entities," said Ambassador Kirsten Hillman.
Wilder Bryan says Thursday's event continues to make Savannah known as a leader in aviation.
“Welcome to Savannah, CAE,” said Wilder Bryan.
