Sandy Wilson has had several different roles at Metter Elementary over the past two decades.

FOR THIS WEEK'S TEACHER FEATURE ... WE'RE HEADING OUT TO METTER. THAT'S WHERE SANDY WILSON HAS BEEN TEACHING FOR THE LAST TWO DECADES. 20 YEARS AGO ... SANDY WILSON WAS A STAY AT HOME MOM WITH HER SONS. <> MY BOYS STARTED SCHOOL AT THE ELEMENTARY AND I WAS STAYING HOME AT THE TIME AND DIDN'T HAVE A JOB SO I STARTED VOLUNTEERING AND READING WITH KIDS AND BEING THERE AND HELPING THEM AND I THOUGHT 'THIS IS GREAT.' I JUST APPLIED. THE PRINCIPAL ASKED ME 'YOU'RE PRETTY MUCH HERE EVERY DAY READING.' SO I WAS LIKE 'OKAY!' WILSON IS AN INTERVENTION SPECIALIST AT METTER ELEMENTARY ... WORKING WITH STUDENTS IN KINDERGARTEN THROUGH FIFTH GRADE. SHE WORKS WITH THEM IN SMALL GROUPS ON READING .. MATH .. AND MUCH MORE. <> "TO SEE THEIR FACE LIGHT UP OR TO SEE THEM EXCEED MY GROUP AND MOVE ON TO THE NEXT PERSON, OR THEIR MINUTES IN READING HAVE MOVED UP" <> IT'S SPECIAL. IT MAKES ME FEEL GREAT. WILSON GETS TO WORK WITH THE SAME STUDENTS FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND SEE THEIR GROWTH IN THE CLASSROOM. A LOT OF TIMES I WILL STAY WITH A GROUP LIKE I HAVE A LOWER GROUP IN SECOND GRADE SO I WILL PROBABLY SEE THEM IN THIRD GRADE AND FOURTH GRADE AND FIFTH GRADE. TO SEE THEIR PROGRESS, OVER TIME, IS PHENOMENAL. <> IT'S REALLY GOOD WHEN THEY LEAVE ME AND THEY GO TO ANOTHER GROUP. THAT MAKES ME FEEL GREAT. WHILE WILSON SORT OF FELL INTO TEACHING ... SHE SAYS SHE'S THANKFUL THE CAREER FOUND HER. <> THE PASSION. IT'S JUST THE KIDS. I LOVE COMING HERE AND SEEING THEM. IT'S NOT EVEN KIDS IN MY GROUP IT'S OTHER KIDS. I HAVE CAR DUTY IN THE MORNING AND I OPENED UP THE CAR DOORS FOR THE KIDS AND I GET TO TELL THEM GOOD MORNING. I GET TO BE THE FIRST PERSON THEY SEE OTHER THAN THEIR PARENTS AND I WANT TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE A GOOD DAY. SO THE TEACHER WE FEATURED LAST WEEK .. KATY RITCHIE ... IS ACTUALLY SANDY'S DAUGHTER IN LAW. TWO GREAT TEACHERS OUT IN METTER. IF YOU'D LIKE TO NOMINATE A TEACHER TO BE O
