“Essential primary health care services delivered by Soum, Village and Family Health Centers” Training and handover ceremony conducted for MCCR project

The Ministry of Health, the Center for Health Development, the National Center for Communicable Diseases and the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences jointly organized next series of training and experience-sharing activity on “Essential Primary Health Care Services Delivered by Soum, Village and Family Health Centers” during 26-28 October 2022 with the technical support of WHO Representative’s Office for Mongolia within the framework of “Mongolia COVID-19 Crisis Response” project funded by the European Union Delegation to Mongolia. The aim of the training  was to improve the capacity of primary health care providers in delivering people-centered integrated primary health care services with the reflection of the “Leaving No One Behind” principle.  A total of 40 healthcare workers from 19 Soum Health Centers and Health Departments of Khovd and Zavkhan provinces were involved in the training which is composed of two types of modalities including theoretical and practical sessions.

In addition to conducting the training, mHealth packages consisted of essential medical equipment namely, mobile ultrasound apparatuses, mobile electro-cardiography, blood pressure monitors, Samsung Tablets, Apple iPads, notebooks, power banks, and feldsher bags for healthcare workers were handed over to soum health centers in Khovd and Zavkhan province. The essential medical supplies and equipment were also procured with financial support from European Union as part of the “Mongolia COVID-19 Crisis Response” project.

About the “Mongolia COVID-19 Crisis Response” project

A three-year joint project “Mongolia COVID-19 Crisis Response” was launched on 30 October 2020. The European Union is providing support of EUR 1 million and WHO is providing EUR 62,000 and technical guidance to Mongolia’s health sector. The project is implemented by WHO Mongolia in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and will focus on three specific areas: strengthening the capacity of the national health system to monitor, prevent, and control the spread and effects of COVID-19; strengthening laboratory capacity at national and sub-national levels; and ensuring continuity and quality of essential health care services during wide-spread community transmission and lockdown.
