Dr Ximena Aguilera Sanhueza

Ximena Aguilera Sanhueza holds a Degree in Medicine from the Universidad de Chile, where she subsequently specialized as a surgeon. 

She was senior advisor for Communicable Diseases at the Pan American Health Organization from 2008 to 2010. She was also head of the Health Planning Division at the Health Ministry from 2005 to 2008 and national head of Epidemiology from 1999 to 2005. 

Prior to her appointment as Health Minister, she served as director of the Center for Epidemiology and Health Policy in the Faculty of Medicine at Clínica Alemana - Universidad del Desarrollo, Chile.
