Tony Mainolfi

First Warning Chief Meteorologist Tony Mainolfi joined the First Warning Weather team in May 2005.

Tony can be seen weekdays on WESH 2 News at 5:00, 6:00 and 11:00, as well as WESH 2 News on CW18 at 10:00. Before joining WESH 2 News, Tony served as chief meteorologist for nine years at WCHS-TV in Charleston, W.Va. He also worked for several years at The Weather Channel and CNN in Atlanta.

Tony was instrumental in helping to save lives during central Florida's deadly Groundhog Day tornado outbreak on Feb. 2, 2007, during which 21 people lost their lives. It was the region's second most deadly tornado outbreak in recorded history.

Tony is committed to keeping central Floridians safe from severe weather. He has also reported from the eye of hurricanes with hurricane hunters and traveled to Alabama to cover the great tornado outbreak of 2011. He is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) and holds a seal of approval from the National Weather Association.

Tony has been nominated for four Emmys; one nomination for his coverage of the central Florida Groundhog Day tornado outbreaks and three for coverage of severe weather in West Virginia. 

Tony received his meteorology degree from the State University of New York at Albany. Go Great Danes!

Tony lives in Orange County with his wife, Jane Ann, daughter, Maria, and son, Anthony.
