Michelle Imperato

Anchor

Michelle Imperato joined WESH 2 News as an anchor in June 2014.

Previously, Michelle co-anchored the number one morning show in Monterey, California at WESH 2’s sister station KSBW, and served as the station’s Investigative Reporter. She also served as an Anchor/ Reporter in New York for the nightly News at Eleven on WLNY-TV 10/55.

Michelle studied Media and Communications at State University of New York Old Westbury and was a part of Long Island News Tonight at the New York Institute of Technology, where she first cut her teeth as a reporter.

As a reporter, Michelle has covered a number of well known international, national and local stories. She co-anchored 2 hours of live coverage of the search for Boston Marathon bombing suspects Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev. She investigated the illegal use of electric prods at the California Rodeo Salinas. Michelle also investigated claims of harmful black mold in apartments at the former Fort Ord. In 2013, Michelle reported from the front lines of the devastating Big Sur Wildfire. Michelle covered the 2008 Presidential elections and “The Miracle on the Hudson” from NYC.

Michelle also enjoys a good feature story. She flew with the United States Air Force Thunderbirds, traveled to Los Angeles to cover Dancing With The Stars and reported from the world famous AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am.

Michelle won two New York State Broadcasters Association awards for Outstanding Public Affairs Series, and was voted Best Local TV Reporter through a Long Island Newspaper in 2011. She was also awarded the Carol M. Baldwin Foundation’s Penni Hartnett Community Service Award for her work raising awareness of Breast Cancer Research.

In her spare time Michelle enjoys, exercising, cooking, reading and working on DIY projects. She also loves traveling and exploring new areas with her husband.
