Greg Fox

Greg Fox has been a member of the WESH 2 News team since May 1987 as an anchor and reporter. He is currently the Investigative and Political reporter.

In 2023, he was honored to receive an Emmy Award from the National Academy Of Television Arts and Sciences (Suncoast Chapter) in the category of “News Special.��� The Academy recognized Greg’s reporting, in “WESH 2 Chronicle: Witness To History- The Loss Of Shuttle Columbia” which provided historical perspective on the explosion of the space shuttle in 2003. It is Greg’s seventh Emmy Award, including a “Silver Circle” for outstanding contributions to the television industry.

Greg was also honored in 2023 with his seventh Florida Bar Media Award (named for the late Parker Thomson) for outstanding court reporting. He also was honored in 2023, along with his station colleagues, with two Edward R. Murrow Awards for “Breaking News” and “Overall News Excellence.” Greg also earned a 2023 first place Green Eyeshade Award (his 10th) from the Society of Professional Journalists for his “Breaking News” reporting on Hurricane Ian.

Nationally, Greg is a two-time winner of the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Television Political Journalism (2007 and 2009). He has also appeared on network programs including “Hardball With Chris Matthews,” ‘Rock Center” and C-Span.

Other Achievements: 2018 Edward R. Murrow Award for Investigative Journalism (his second individual Murrow), nine Sunshine State / SPJ Awards including the 2013 “Freedom Of Information Award, eight Florida Association of Broadcast Journalist Awards, multiple awards from RTDNA, AP, and the Central Florida Press Club.

Born in Absecon, N.J., Greg graduated from High Point University in North Carolina with a B.A. in Journalism. He also was a varsity tennis player for the "Panthers" from 1979-’83.

Previously, he worked at WYOU-TV in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pennsylvania, and WGHP-TV in High Point/Greensboro/Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

He has worked as an adjunct professor at The University of Central Florida School of Communications (1996-’99), and the Rollins College School of Communications (1999-2010). Greg currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the Central Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America, as well as the Chartered Organization Representative for Troop 849/ Pack 630 in Altamonte Springs.

He previously served on the Board Of Directors for Smile For A Lifetime (Longwood, Florida- Providing free orthodontia for low income families, 2008-2012), and on the Board of Directors for Morningstar School Orlando, for special needs children (2009-2013).

He is past President of the Central Florida Press Club, and a former Honorary Chair. of The Sharing Center in Seminole County.

Greg is also a founding Board member of Annunciation Catholic Academy in Altamonte Springs, where his three adult sons, Ryan, Kevin & Colin, attended elementary and middle school. His wife, Mary Ann, previously taught at the Academy and now works at Annunciation Catholic Church, where Greg and his family are active in parish life.
