The first trailer for the highly anticipated "Gladiator" sequel, "Gladiator II," was released on Tuesday.Directed once again by Ripley Scott, the sequel comes years after the original film and follows Lucius, played by Paul Mescal, the son of Lucilla, as he is sold into slavery in Rome. Lucius, who is heavily inspired by Russel Crowe’s Maximus from the original movie, becomes an apprentice to Denzel Washington's character and vows to challenge the ruling of the Emperors, played by Joesph Quinn and Fred Hechinger, by becoming a gladiator in the Colosseum.The trailer also depicts Pedro Pascal as General Marcus Acacius, who is controlled by the Emperors. As in the first film, in an attempt to bring down the Roman army, General Marcus and Lucius eventually face each other in a bloody battle. "Gladiator II" will be released in theaters on Nov. 22, 2024.
