Super Bowl champion Buccaneers celebrate with boat parade

The Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers are celebrating their victory with a boat parade amid continued concern over the coronavirus pandemic. The parade Wednesday afternoon was held on the Hillsborough River near downtown Tampa. At one point, quarterback Tom Brady was captured on video tossing the championship Lombardi Trophy from his boat to his teammates in another boat. That brought wild cheers from fans and players.As the parade came to a close, head coach Bruce Arians said that the Buccaneers could easily repeat as champions if the team stays intact. Brady already said he’ll be back.Mayor Jane Castor emphasized that people attending the parade wear masks outdoors and observe social distancing rules, but video from the parade showed that social distancing guidelines were not observed during much of the parade. After Tampa Bay’s 31-9 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Sunday’s title game, throngs of people gathered in the city’s entertainment districts. Many were seen maskless despite the ordinances requiring them.
