WESH 2’s annual Share Your Christmas back for its 38th year

WESH 2’s annual Share Your Christmas back for its 38th year
WE ARE WRAPPING UP OUR 38TH ANNUAL SHARE YOUR CHRISTMAS FOOD DRIVE RIGHT HERE IN OUR WINTER PARK STUDIOS PARKING LOT. AND WE HAVE HAD SO MUCH FUN HERE TODAY. WE’VE COLLECTED A LOT OF FOOD, RAISED A LOT OF MONEY. DISNEY, YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN A BIG PART OF THAT. I’M HERE WITH TAJY. TELL US WHY YOU GUYS LIKE TO PARTNER WITH SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK. WE HAVE A REALLY LONG STANDING HISTORY OF SUPPORTING SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK THAT GOES BACK ABOUT 30 YEARS. SO IT’S A REALLY LONG TRADITION OF GIVING BACK. OUR DISNEY VOLUNTEERS SPENDING ABOUT 200,000 HOURS IN THE COMMUNITY AND SECOND HARVEST IS A BIG PART OF THAT CAUSE. THAT WE WANT TO GIVE BACK TO EACH YEAR. AND YOU GUYS DIDN’T JUST COME HERE TO VOLUNTEER TODAY, DID YOU? NO, THAT’S RIGHT. SO WE CAME HERE WITH A LITTLE BIT OF EXTRA DISNEY MAGIC TODAY. WE BROUGHT SOME EXTRA SPECIAL FRIENDS AND WE ARE EXCITED TO SHARE THAT ON BEHALF OF WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT AND ALL OF OUR CAST MEMBERS THAT WE ARE DONATING $100,000 TO SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK. THAT IS INCREDIBLE. TAJY THANK YOU SO MUCH. THAT IS GOING TO DO SO MUCH GOOD IN OUR COMMUNITY. IT GAVE ME CHILLS JUST HEARING THAT NUMBER $100,000. DEREK CHUBBS, THE SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK, YOU KEEP SAYING, WOW, WHAT DOES THAT DO FOR THE FAMILIES AND FOR SECOND HARVEST TO BE ABLE TO BUY FOOD TO HELP OUT PEOPLE AROUND OUR AREA? WELL, FIRST OF ALL, THAT’S 400,000 MEALS AND THAT’S HUGE FOR US. AND THAT GIVES FAMILIES DURING THIS HOLIDAY DAY SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL THAT THEY CAN LOOK FORWARD TO. AND WE’RE JUST THRILLED TO BE ABLE TO BE A PART OF IT, TO PARTNER WITH DISNEY AND BE ABLE TO BE A PART OF IT AS WELL AS WELL. SO THANK YOU ALL FOR LET’S GET MICKEY IN HERE BECAUSE MICKEY’S THE MAN OF THE HOUR. WE LOVE DROPPING THE COIN. 400,000 MEALS. YOU KNOW, THAT’S ONE OF THOSE THINGS WE TALK ABOUT ALL THE TIME, ABOUT HOW MUCH PEOPLE CAN BRING FOOD AND HOW THAT MAKES AN IMPACT. BUT THE DOLLAR, ONCE WE GIVE IT TO THE SECOND HARVEST, HOW IT CAN GO. SO MUCH FURTHER. IT CAN GO SO MUCH FURTHER. AND WE HAVE A VERY EFFICIENT ORGANIZATION. BUT AGAIN, WE COULD NOT DO IT WITHOUT THE VOLUNTEERISM THAT WE HAVE EVERY SINGLE YEAR. AND DISNEY IS CERTAINLY A HUGE PART OF THAT. WE CAN’T THANK YOU ENOUGH. DISNEY AND MICKEY, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BRINGING ALL THIS MONEY AND FOR DOING ALL THE HARD WORK TODAY, TOO. I MEAN, THEY WERE SORTING DONATIONS ALL DAY LONG HERE AT OUR STUDIOS. THEY HAVE SO MUCH ENERGY OVER THERE. I LOVE THE DISNEY ENERGY GUYS, THE $100,000 IS AMAZING, BUT WE ALSO COLLECTED A LOT OF FOOD AND WE RAISED EVEN MORE MONEY THAN THAT. I BELIEVE WE HAVE A GRAND TOTAL. $541,000. GUYS, THIS IS GOING TO MAKE SUCH AN INCREDIBLE IMPACT IN OUR COMMUNITY. PEOPLE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON WHO MAY HAVE HAD TO MAKE A DIFFICULT DECISION OF WHETHER OR NOT THEY COULD DO SOMETHING MORE THAN A FOOD ON THEIR TABLE. I MEAN, THIS IS SUCH AN AMAZING IMPACT. YEAH, MORE THAN A MILLION MEALS. WHEN YOU HEAR IT LIKE THAT, IT IS MIND BLOWING. AND THIS TIME OF YEAR IT MEANS THE WORLD TO PEOPLE WHEN THAT’S ALL WE’RE TALKING ABOUT. THIS TIME OF YEAR IS FOOD. AND THIS GIVES US THE OPPORTUNITY TO PUT FOOD ON THOSE TABLES. SO THANK YOU SO MUCH. EVERY SINGLE YEAR, OUR PARTNERS, OUR BUSINESS PARTNERS, PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY, INDIVIDUALS, THEY SHOW UP EVERY SINGLE YEAR AND MAKE SHARE YOUR CHRISTMAS EVEN LARGER THAN THE YEAR BEFORE. SO A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY AT HOME THAT PARTICIPATED ONLINE OR CAME OUT TO ONE OF OUR SEVERAL SITES THROUGHOUT THE AREA. THANK YOU SO MUCH. WE CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH AND WE JUST WANT TO SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR CHRISTMAS WITH US. CENTRAL FLORI
