The Commitment 2024 primary debate series kicks off with Florida Senate District 15 Democrats.This debate featured two Democrats in the race going toe-to-toe on important topics. Geraldine Thompson, the current senator for the district, faced off against her opponent Randolph Bracy, the former state senator. The debate touched on issues from funding for public transportation to affordable housing. It also addressed the allegations each of the candidates has made regarding the other's residential location. There is no Republican running in District 15, effectively meaning the winner of the Aug. 20 primary will win the seat in the general election on Nov. 5.Moderated by Political Reporter Greg Fox, the debate is part of an ongoing series of debates that will focus on the primary races across the nine districts that WESH covers.
