City of Orlando to host annual firework event: See information, road closures, more
The city of Orlando will celebrate the Fourth of July with its annual "Fireworks at the Fountain" event, which will be taking place at Lake Eola from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday. The event features live entertainment, a variety of vendors and fireworks, of course. The show is set to begin around 9 p.m. and will feature live music from the Orlando Concert Band. To accommodate the large event, the city is implementing a series of road closures that will affect traffic patterns and some downtown commutes. Road closures will start Thursday morning at 7 a.m. when North Eola Drive between Washington Street and Robinson Street will close. Robinson Street between Rosalind Avenue and Summerlin Avenue will also close at that time. Many other roads will close at 2 p.m., including portions of Rosalind Avenue and Central Boulevard. For a full map of road closures, click here. For information on parking at the event, click here.Attendees can ride the SunRail for free on July 4, but the city is reminding people to get on the train earlier rather than later. At the Church Street station, the last northbound train will depart at 10:38 p.m. and the last southbound train will depart at 10:58 p.m. At the Lynx Central station, the last northbound train departs at 10:41 p.m. and the last southbound train will depart at 10:48 p.m. For more information on the event, click here.
