Orlando City's Duncan McGuire named to US Olympic men's soccer team

Orlando City's Duncan McGuire was named recently to the US Olympic men's soccer team ahead of the Paris games scheduled to start this month. “It means a lot," McGuire told reporters after last Saturday's Orlando City game. "Obviously, the Olympics are something that every kid watches growing up and they dream of being a part of that." "To get the call-up, I've been a part of the camps, which is a good opportunity to showcase your skills and I think I've done a good job of that," added McGuire. "To be invited by Marko and to be a part of this team I think is a huge opportunity, and I'm very excited to get over there.”The Olympic men's soccer team consists of mostly U-23 players with the exception of three overage players — defender Miles Robinson and Walker Zimmerman and midfielder Djordje Mihailovic. McGuire, 23, was selected as the No. 6 overall pick in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft by Orlando City. The Omaha, Nebraska native has scored 23 goals since joining the Lions out of Creighton University.
