Cork to see 200 new jobs with Motorola Solutions expansion

Motorola Solutions now recruiting for New Global R&D Centre in Cork

Motorola Solutions announced today that it is opening a new Research and Development Centre in Cork City Centre. The expansion is expected to generate 200 highly skilled jobs. The team will design software for the company’s comprehensive land mobile radio (LMR) portfolio. There are also plans to expand across other technologies in the future.

In the past decade, Motorola Solutions has invested over $12 billion in R&D and acquisitions. This has led to creating an ecosystem of technologies focused on safety and security, with LMR at its core.

The Company will establish the new R&D Centre in Cork’s vibrant city centre, enhancing its existing presence in Ireland. This will complement the company’s work on the secure communications network for emergency services, Ireland’s National Digital Radio Service.

Today’s announcement builds on Cork City’s reputation as a hub for FDI. The City recently secured the top spot in Europe for FDI strategy at the 2024 Financial Times FDI awards, in the small city category.  The city secured several top five finishes in the various categories related to FDI, including economic potential, business friendliness and overall in the small European City category.
